John Mayer Concert

John Mayer played the Save Mart Center last night. This was the first time that I bought concert tickets from www.stubhub.com (an online ticket broker). I would definitely recommend getting tickets this way if you care about where you seat will be.

The concert marked the first time that Jamie and I had been out together without the girls since they were born. We both had a great time, but I could tell that Jamie was anxious to get back home to them.

Here is a video I found on YouTube, our seats were a little more toward the middle of the stage and closer than this camera.

Ebay Scalpers Suck

Matchbox Twenty is coming to the Savemart Center in November. Tickets went on sale last Saturday at 10:00 am. Jamie hopped on the ticketmaster website at the stroke of ten and bought 6 tickets in the best available section. We got pretty good seats on the floor, but not that close to the stage. Now if you search ebay for tickets to the same show you will find tons of people selling tickets close to the stage for around $250 a pair. L A M E

Zep Still Rocks

I picked up the new Led-Zeppelin 2 disc DVD a few weeks ago. I watched it once and put it on the shelf because I was busy doing other important things (read: playing online games). Lately I've been popping it in every day to watch a couple tracks and I have to say it rocks! Prior to this DVD the only real video footage of Zeppelin was the movie "The Song Remains The Same". I admit I have watched that movie over a hundred times since I was in high school, but it kind of sucks. With the cheesy "fantasy scenes" cut in-between the performances, which themselves were not Zep's greatest.

The new DVD has material from both the early years and the later years including their final performance at Knebworth in 1979. The quality is very good and the performances are awesome. My favorite part comes on the second disc where Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant put on a three song acoustic jam of Going To California, That's The Way and Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. The only thing I don’t like about the DVD set is that on one or two tracks the video and audio are taken from different shows and spliced together which gives a less than authentic feel. Still, I consider this to be the best DVD in my collection.

And We're Off! (again)

Just about to head out the door for the lovely town of Bakersfield (Barfersfield) to catch SugarGay .. err Sugar Ray and Matchbox Twenty. This should bring the summer odometer up to about 1,550 miles. For those of you keeping score at home that number will continue to grow over the next few weeks so stay tuned. Also stay tuned for photos from our camping excursion last week as well as from the concert tonight if I am successful in sneaking my camera into the stadium.

Stoopid is as Stoopid Does

So I've been looking forward to seeing Slightly Stoopid play in Fresno for over a month. Ever since I got the heads up that they would be playing 'somewhere' in Fresno on this date I've been planning to go. Well as the date grew closer there was still no mention of a venue on any of the websites or in the regular street team emails. I figured the show must be canceled or delayed. That is until my phone starts blowing up while I'm in class and Mike (Twinkie for those of you in the KNOW .. or into Hostess snacks .. wuteva) leaves a voice mail that they are playing on campus at that very moment. Well of course I don't get this message until I leave class and I didn't believe it anyway. Until I get over to the student union and see a stage set up on the grass and Kyle and Miles hanging around while their crew tore down their gear. Needless to say I missed the entire show.

So my favorite band comes to my town plays on my campus like 100 yards from where I am sitting in class and I don't even know about it. That seriously sucks.

On a different note: The new Third Eye Blind album, Out of the Vein comes out next week. I'm looking forward to this because they included my favorite and until now unreleased 3EB song, Wake for Young Souls (this is the Demo version from 1994). I've been trying to download some tracks off Kazaa, but some shmucks from Elektra are flooding the file sharing community with bogus files named after each track on the album.

If you use Kazaa, please insure that everything in your share directory is correctly labeled. If you share these bogus files you are just helping the record companies to render file sharing useless.

3EB Plays Tulare

Third Eye Blind played the Tulare Fair last night and though tickets cost around 30 bucks each Stephan came on a Fresno radio satation early in themorning saying that they were going to make it a free show. People who had already bought tickets could get their money back, but were urged to donate the money to the Red Cross by placeing their tickets in the big donation bins at the fairgrounds entrance.

It was a a really good show, the band especially Stephan sounded better (on key and everything) than any other time I had seen them play. Adding to the atmosphere of the evening was a great sense of patriotism throughout the audience who chanted "USA USA USA" before the encnore. A moment of silence was held before the concert began and four doves were released.
