Heroes Rocks!

If you haven't been watching it already, you should check out Heroes on NBC. I think this show has surpassed Lost and become my new favorite.

Well I am not much of a football fan anyway, but was that game kind of boring or what? The commercials weren't even all that great. Man those monkeys really got old, but that new convertible mustang is looking good. The Simpsons was on right after the post-game show and it was a crack up. I haven't watched that show in a long time, but I guess it is still going strong.

I lost my cell phone about a week ago and its replacement arrived on Friday (thanks Dad!). I'm in heaven with this thing (HP iPAQ h6315 Pocket PC); built in WIFI, IR, GPRS, BlueTooth, Camera... with T-Mobile's awesome data plan I can surf the web and check my email from anywhere anytime. Now I just need to find a good Pocket PC RSS Reader...

Sorry, Not A Winner

I've been eating Snickers candy bars my whole life.. and they always say Sorry, not a winner inside. This really doesn't help my self esteem.

This evening I have nothing to do! Well I have things to do, but they don’t require me to leave the apartment which is a novelty this summer. I thought I’d take some time to post some pictures from our trip to the Sierras last week. The trip was great, so much so that we are heading back up there next weekend. All of the rivers and streams are very high right now due to a late snow. This made it hard to fish the usual places and we ended up having to take a hike to a smaller stream before we started knocking them dead. We also fished Packer Lake the first day we got up there.

On a side note: the concert last night was awesome. Matchbox Twenty sounds sweet live, if you don’t believe me check out their Story Tellers DVD. The arena that we saw them in didn’t have the best acoustics, but the show was still amazing. I was able to take a disposable camera into the arena, but none of the pictures turned out. I didn’t really expect them to except for the one of Mark McGrath that I snapped when he ran by me (about 1 foot from the camera). I guess that shot didn’t turn out though because it is no where to be found. Other than that, all I got back from the One-Hour Photo was a bunch of black pictures with some light in the middle where the stage was. We were only about 26 rows back, but the photos make it seem like we were about a mile out. See what I mean? Yeah that is Matchbox Twenty; Rob Thomas is the blur in the middle with a black shirt on.

Well tomorrow it is off to San Diego for Jessica’s High School graduation, then on to Camarillo for Allison’s. The summer odometer keeps on tickin’ baby!

and the livin's easy ... again =) Yesterday was my last final... Calculus. I've been worried all semester about that exam. It was TOUGH, but now it is done and I only have one more class until I can become an official computer scientist (ie. have a nice paper that says so). This past semester turned out to be a good one GPA wise. Hey, there's a first time for everything right?

Going to see the Matrix Reloaded tonight. I never saw the original (which turned out to be one of my favorite movies of all time) on the big screen and I was always bummed about that.

We're headed for the coast right after work tomorrow afternoon. Looks like the weather is going to be great over in Pismo so that's a bonus.

After typing out that laundry list of school work earlier I realized that my trip to the California Speedway is going to have to be canceled. I'm bummed, it isn't everyday you get a chance to see a track full of cars turn left for four hours straight. School comes first though -- as depressing as it may be.

Let's Do The Time Warp Again

This whole daylight savings thing has me completely out of whack. It's almost seven in the evening and super bright outside. I stayed up until like two in the morning last night without realizing it. Only to find out that there was nothing, but infomercials to watch on TV. Is it really so important to feel like there is sunlight left once we get off of work that we need to disrupt the whole space time continuum? Next time I’m staying in the old time … I’ll chalk it up to a broken Flux Capacitor or something.

Computer Melt-Down

As I type this from my laptop my desktop lays in pieces on the floor. Maybe it’s the rising temperature or the latest worm downloaded from Kazaa, but seems that once a year around this time my entire system suffers some type of major malfunction. What's a guy have to do to get a computer that has no problems? Maybe I should talk to that dell dude.

Dental Work Makes My Head Hurt

What’s the deal with dentists? Hey that sounds like a Seinfeld episode or something. How come you go in with a little pain in a tooth, or just for a cleaning and you end up needing your entire dome rotor rooted and a root canal on every third tooth? Sure they have a nice black and white X-ray of your teeth. But a normal person couldn’t tell the difference between a prehistoric rock carving and their #31 tooth that needs endodontic therapy (a nice word for hollowing out, hammering a rod down the center and then filling back up with some metal).

This brings me to my next question: What’s the deal with insurance? You make a payment every month to some company that will supposedly back you up when you need some cash flow. Then the time comes and you have to pay 30% and before your treatment is half paid for you are totally out of insurance. So let me get this straight, I am out of insurance so I have to pay the full inflated cost of a root canal (inflated because the dentist can charge mondo bucks to the insurance company) and any other treatment that I may need for the rest of the year, BUT I still have to make monthly payments to the insurance company?

What have we learned here? Absolutely nothing, all I know is I am broke, my teeth are throbbing and my dentist is a rich dude. Sometimes I wish I lived in Canada.
